
Former Child Refugee Wins Starmer's London Seat
Sagal Abdi-Wali, 43, won Holborn and St Pancras for the Labour Party on 8 October. She takes over from Keir Starmer and beat Green Party leader Zack Polanski. She fled Somalia at age seven in the 1990s, settled in Gospel Oak, joined local Camden council in 2022, and in May became its first Black woman leader.
