Former child refugee Sagal Abdi-Wali wins Starmer's Holborn and St Pancras seat

Sagal Abdi-Wali, 43, won Holborn and St Pancras for Labour on 8 October, succeeding Keir Starmer and beating Green leader Zack Polanski. She fled Somalia aged seven in the 1990s, settling in Gospel Oak, joined Camden council in 2022 and became its first Black female leader in May.
