
England's School Check-Ups Are Stressing Teachers, Survey Finds
England's school inspector is Ofsted. In a survey it requested, out 8 October 2026, most school heads say its new check-ups hurt staff mental health: 88% reported harm, 29% serious harm. The overhaul followed headteacher Ruth Perry's death. But fewer than 1 in 4 schools answered, so results are limited. Education chief Lucy Powell wants another look.
