Ofsted's New Inspections Still Strain Staff, Leaders Say

Most school leaders say Ofsted's revised inspections are harming staff wellbeing. In an Ofsted-commissioned survey published 8 October 2026, 88% reported a negative effect, 29% a large one. The changes followed headteacher Ruth Perry's death. But fewer than one in four schools replied, limiting the picture. Education Secretary Lucy Powell now wants a rethink.
