Car safety checks change from November

New cars will not need a second Warrant of Fitness, the safety check to stay on the road, for four years. Cars aged 4 to 14 will be checked every two years instead of every year from 1 November 2026, NZTA said, as reported by RNZ. Associate Transport Minister James Meager said it was a commonsense update.
