France Stops Loud Police Weapon at Student Protests

France said on Oct. 7 police will stop using stun grenades — very loud devices that scare and scatter crowds — at student protests. It follows Oct. 6 high-school marches with 266,000 to 450,000 protesters and 488 arrests over too few teachers, run-down buildings and packed classrooms. It is unclear how this will affect future blockades, where students shut school entrances.
