S&P 500 up 0.66% to 7,773.95, close to summer high

The S&P 500 — the index tracking 500 large U.S. companies — rose 0.66% to 7,773.95 on Oct. 5, Reuters reported. The tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 1.05% to 27,477.31. For savers in U.S. index funds, it leaves balances just short of the summer peak.
