Ethiopia's Leader Starts New Term, Wants Sea Access Again

Ethiopian leader Abiy Ahmed started another five-year term October 5. He told lawmakers Ethiopia needs its own path to the Red Sea for trade, calling it vital to Ethiopia's "civilisation," or long-term survival. He promised "give and take," meaning fair deal-making, noting Ethiopia has had no seacoast since Eritrea split off in 1993.
