Iran says key oil waterway stays closed until U.S. agrees to demands

Iran will keep the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow water road for about one-fifth of the world's oil and gas, closed until the U.S. meets seven demands, parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Oct. 4. The demands link to a deal, the Islamabad memorandum, and Tehran's seven-day reopening plan. The strait has been largely blocked since Feb. 28 U.S.-Israeli strikes.
