Supreme Court to decide if states can sue oil firms over climate claims

The Supreme Court starts its 2026-2027 term Oct. 5 with a case asking if federal law stops states and local governments from suing energy companies for allegedly misleading the public about how oil and gas harm the environment, NPR and SCOTUSblog listings said.
