Supreme Court to open term with test of fossil-fuel deception lawsuits

The Supreme Court will open its 2026-2027 term Oct. 5 with a case testing whether federal law precludes state and local lawsuits against energy companies over allegedly deceiving the public about the damaging effects of fossil fuels, according to NPR and SCOTUSblog listings.
