
Hipkins criticises plan to add extra seats
Labour leader Chris Hipkins said a campaign on the right to win extra seats in Parliament, called an overhang, was a “rort” by “entrenched interests”. It is like getting bonus seats beyond your share of the vote. RNZ reported the comment in its Election 2026 live blog on 3 October, after The Post first reported it.
