Shop Owner Found Guilty After Incident With 7-Year-Old but Faces No Punishment

Rodney Philpott, who owns a bridal shop in Newfoundland and Labrador, was found guilty of assaulting a 7-year-old boy but will face no punishment, reported Oct. 2, 2026. A judge in Grand Falls-Windsor said Philpott hung the boy up by his hood on a coat hook while playing around, acting carelessly but not trying to hurt him.
