Google launches test satellite to try AI in space

Google launched its first Project Suncatcher test satellite on October 1, 2026, on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from California. Made by Planet Labs, it carries a special Google computer chip to see if AI can work in space. After startup checks, it will run the chip in 15-minute bursts, like resting a laptop, to save power and limit heat.
