French students protest crowded schools; headteacher attacked, fires set
On Oct. 1, attackers poured petrol on a headteacher — the person in charge of a school — and lit fires in at least two schools, officials said. Students across France were protesting classes packed like crowded buses, too few teachers, and buildings falling apart. Police held hundreds. It is unclear how the government will stop unrest spreading to universities.
