Jessica Watkins Becomes First Black Woman to Lead a Space Crew

NASA astronaut Jessica Watkins launched Oct. 1 leading SpaceX Crew-13 to the International Space Station, an orbiting lab, becoming the first Black woman to lead a crew to orbit. The Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral after a three-week delay to fix a fuel leak. Watkins, a rock scientist, and three newcomers face an eight-hour flight and six-month stay.
