U.S. Will Now Consider Selling Weapons to Syria

Syria can now ask to buy American weapons and military help. On September 30, 2026, the U.S. removed Syria from its automatic-no sale list, so each request gets its own review. This follows leader Bashar al-Assad’s ouster in December 2024 and Syria’s removal in August 2026 from the U.S. list of terrorism-supporting countries. Seven countries remain on the no-sale list.
