Jack Smith Explains His Trump Cases to Senators

Jack Smith, the former outside referee hired to investigate Donald Trump, defended before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sept. 29, 2026, his two cases against Trump, over trying to overturn the 2020 election and keeping secret papers, were dropped before trial. Smith said threats to charge him won't silence him. Republicans said the session checked if he abused power.
