Malaysia Sends 1,500 Rohingya Back to Myanmar

Malaysia started sending nearly 1,500 Rohingya refugees back to Myanmar on Sept. 29, 2026. Refugees are people who fled danger to find safety. Malaysia says they chose to return. This is the first part of a plan for Myanmar to take back 5,000 people, leader Anwar Ibrahim said in July. Malaysia housed over 126,144 Rohingya as of February.
