Bill Gates says all AI needs safety rules

Bill Gates told NBC's Meet the Press on September 27, 2026 it would be completely irresponsible not to require every AI system, software that writes text or answers questions, to have built-in safety checks and close watching. He said tech companies policing themselves is not enough, and urged Washington lawmakers to make rules for building AI.
