Labour promises to cut student loan debt

Labour leader Chris Hipkins promised help with student loans at Labour's election campaign start at the Due Drop Centre in Manukau, Auckland, on 27 September 2026. He told about 600 supporters Labour would cut 10 percent off what some people owe, like a discount, and wipe loans of $2,000 or less, RNZ reported.
