Labour promises 10% student loan write-off, clears debts under $2,000

Labour leader Chris Hipkins announced a student loan policy at the party's campaign launch at the Due Drop Centre in Manukau, Auckland, on 27 September 2026. He told about 600 supporters Labour would write off 10 percent of debt for some borrowers, and all debt for those owing $2,000 or less, according to RNZ.
