17 Killed, 15 Hurt in Shooting at a Small Bar Near Johannesburg

At least 17 people were killed and 15 hurt in a shooting at a tavern, a small bar, in Wedela township, a crowded neighborhood southwest of Johannesburg, in Gauteng province. Emergency workers said 17 died at the scene. Police said early on Sept. 27, 2026, they did not know why it happened or what it means for safety.
