New Qualcomm headphone chip connects directly to home Wi-Fi

Qualcomm announced Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2, its first audio chip with built-in micro-power Wi-Fi 6E, a battery-saving home wireless link. Earbuds and audio glasses using it can join home Wi-Fi and reach cloud services on their own, without a phone, for 24-bit 96kHz lossless audio, or full studio-quality sound. The older 7-series needed a separate Wi-Fi chip.
