Top Judge Keeps California Decision on Baby Gabriel's Parents in Place

Justice Elena Kagan of the U.S. Supreme Court said no to McKenna West, the Alaska woman who carried Baby Gabriel for others, who asked to pause a California court decision naming Omar Ahmed and Nausheen Gilkar as his legal parents. Gabriel was born with a severe heart defect where the left side did not fully grow. That decision now stays.
