Parliament replaces NZ's main planning law

Parliament has given final approval to two new laws, the Planning Bill and Natural Environment Bill, replacing the 35-year-old Resource Management Act, the Government said. RMA Reform Minister Chris Bishop said roads and other big projects will be easier, faster and cheaper to build. Opposition parties said nature protections could be weakened, RNZ reported.
