Parliament replaces Resource Management Act with two new laws

Parliament has passed the Planning Bill and Natural Environment Bill through their third and final reading, replacing the 35-year-old Resource Management Act, the Government said. RMA Reform Minister Chris Bishop said building infrastructure will be easier, faster and cheaper. Opposition parties said protections for the environment could be weaker, RNZ reported.
