Woman hacked online; police first closed case

Jane had Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat broken into, with pictures stolen from private chats. Police gave her a safety-tips leaflet and closed the case. After hiring lawyers Leigh Day, Ofcom, Britain's online watchdog, opened a formal check of the apps and police reopened the criminal case, The Guardian reported 22 September 2026.
