Iraq to Disarm Iran-Supported Groups by 2027

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi promised to take weapons from armed groups supported by Iran by June 2027, in an interview published Sept. 21, 2026. The date is later than an earlier September goal, after months of pushback against putting the groups under government control. Three group leaders had earlier promised to disarm.
