26 Killed in Abyei Market Fight Claimed by Two Countries

26 people were killed and 82 hurt in days of fighting at Amiet Common Market in Abyei, the UN said Sept. 17, 2026. It started after a Ngok Dinka man and a Misseriya man were killed separately. Both Sudan and South Sudan say Abyei is theirs, undecided since 2011. UN peacekeeping troops secured posts and carried hurt people to safety.
