26 Killed in Abyei Market Clashes on Sudan-South Sudan Border

26 people were killed and 82 injured in days of fighting at Amiet Common Market in Abyei, the UN said Sept. 17, 2026. The violence followed the separate killings of a Ngok Dinka man and a Misseriya man. Both Sudan and South Sudan claim Abyei since 2011. UN peacekeepers strengthened posts and evacuated the wounded.
