Taxi company founder told to pay £20.5m extra tax
John Griffin, who founded taxi company Addison Lee, must pay £20.5m extra in UK tax for 2013-2020. He argued he lived as an outsider for tax purposes, which once meant paying less on money earned abroad. A London tax court disagreed, ruling for the tax office, saying his real home was England. That special rule ended in April 2025.
