Australia says it won't sharply cut newcomers

Australia will still plan for 225,000 more arrivals than departures in 2027-28, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke told the National Press Club Thursday. He said the ruling Labor party would make its current system work better, warning that promises to sharply cut newcomers would "trash Australian services and trash the Australian economy."
