Australia keeps 225,000 migration forecast, rejects deep cuts

Australia will keep net overseas migration — arrivals minus departures — at 225,000 in 2027-28, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke told the National Press Club Thursday. He said Labor would improve its current policy, arguing populist pledges for sharp cuts would "trash Australian services and trash the Australian economy."
