Lawmaker Wants to Stop $140 Billion for Immigration Agencies

Rep. Ilhan Omar plans to propose a law on Sept. 17, 2026, called the Make ICE Pay Act, to stop nearly $140 billion for U.S. ICE and CBP, the two federal groups that enforce immigration rules and guard borders. The Guardian reports the money came from Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
