Omar to Propose Blocking $140 Billion for ICE and CBP

Rep. Ilhan Omar plans to introduce the Make ICE Pay Act on Sept. 17, 2026, to block nearly $140 billion for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the agencies handling immigration enforcement and border security. The Guardian reports the money was allocated under Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
