U.S. and China May Set Up Trade Panels, Rubio Says

Secretary of State Rubio said in July 2026 that the U.S. and China may set up joint trade and investment boards before President Xi Jinping visits. The boards would give both countries a regular way to talk about money and trade — a shift from Trump's reliance on tariffs, which are taxes on imported goods.
