
U.S. and Japan Team Up to Prop Up the Yen — Biggest Effort in 15 Years
Japan's government spent ¥11.7 trillion buying its own currency, the yen, from April–June 2026 to push its value up. On July 31, the U.S. joined in. Goldman Sachs called it the biggest such effort in 15 years. Schwab's Michelle Gibley said it slowed the yen's fall but didn't stop it.
