France bans phones in all schools, preschool through graduation

France passed a law on August 24, 2026 banning phones in high schools (ages 15–18). Students must leave devices in lockers when they arrive. Younger grades already face the same rule, so French students now go phone-free from preschool to graduation. Teachers' unions say schools don't have enough time to prepare.
