New scheme to keep your money safe from dodgy home traders

The UK government will launch a list of trusted home-repair traders next month. Your money will be held by a neutral third party and paid to the trader only when agreed work is done. Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the government is "taking action to protect consumers." The CMA found customers lost over £10bn in 2024 to rogue traders.
