Sudden flood hits Nepal-China border area for second year in a row

A sudden flood along the Bhote Koshi River killed at least eight people in Nepal on August 26, 2026, damaged power plants, and cut off roads. China said many people died on its side too. The same border area lost a bridge to a flood last year that killed nine — a worrying repeat along a key trade path.
