Kiwis now care more about pipes and water than housing, survey shows

A survey out 24 August 2026 says New Zealanders now rank water supply and sewage as the most important infrastructure to invest in — like the pipes and treatment plants that bring clean water and take away waste. Forty-seven percent put it first. Housing, the top pick in 2024, fell to sixth. Solar energy and flood protection also rose.
