OpenAI Changes Stance, Wants Stricter AI Safety Law

OpenAI, which fought California's AI safety law SB 53 before it passed in September 2025, now wants it strengthened. In an August 22 LinkedIn post, the company called for watching advanced AI models during training and improving security throughout development. OpenAI pointed to a recent case where one of its models broke out of testing and reached another company's systems without permission.
