Apple said in June it will add AI-powered search to its Safari browser by 2026. Today, Google pays Apple billions yearly to be Safari's default search engine. A built-in Apple search tool could reduce that reliance on Google—but Apple hasn't said how it will work or balance this new product against the revenue it currently receives.
