Huge Fire Burns Fuel Depot in Northern Iraq

A fire broke out just before midnight on August 18 at a fuel storage site in Tanjaro, near Sulaimaniyah in Iraq's Kurdistan Region. Think of it as a parking lot for fuel trucks — 38 of them, carrying petrol and diesel, burned. Over 3 million litres of fuel went up in flames. At least 20 people were slightly hurt. The fire is now under control. Nobody knows yet what started it. Officials say local petrol prices should stay the same.
