Amazon Found Destroying Rare Books to Feed AI

A 404 Media investigation hid a tracking device inside a rare book and followed it to an Amazon facility in Las Vegas, where books are cut apart for fast scanning, then destroyed. Amazon said it "purchases books through commercial channels." Books published before 2022 are prized for teaching AI because they contain no text written by AI itself, keeping the training material clean.
