Republican Map Changes Force Wasserman Schultz to Run in a Historically Black District, Sparking Objections

Republicans redrew Florida's voting maps, breaking Debbie Wasserman Schultz's old district into five pieces. That pushed the longtime congresswoman and former Democratic Party leader into a district where Black lawmakers have held office for over 30 years. She is the only white candidate and doesn't live there. Black leaders, including Yvette Clarke, have criticized the move. The primary vote is August 18.
