
Apple Says Letting App Makers Use Outside Payments Costs Almost Nothing, Still Wants a Cut
Apple told a court on August 13, 2026 that letting app developers send customers to outside websites for purchases would cost Apple "essentially zero." Yet Apple still wants a 15% fee (5% for small developers), down from the 27% a judge called a "blatant" violation of a 2021 court order. Epic Games has 60 days to object.
