Two Family Killings in the Midwest in Two Weeks Bring 2026 US Mass Murder Total to 15

On August 12, 2026, a man in Winfield, Kansas shot and killed his four young children—ages 3 to 9—and their mother, then killed himself. He was a registered sex offender. It was the second time in two weeks that someone in the Midwest wiped out their own family, after a similar case in Michigan on July 28.
