University of Michigan College to Let New Freshmen Pass or Fail Instead of Letter Grades

Starting fall 2027, the University of Michigan's largest college will give first-semester freshmen either a "pass" or "no credit" instead of letter grades. Teachers will still grade work, but transcripts will show only P or NC. The school says the pilot program aims to reduce student stress.
